Maximizing Your Wedding Budget

Maximizing Your Wedding Budget

By Jeanette Shinn

Depending on the expert you read, recent estimates tell us that the average North American couple's wedding budget is more than $22,000 (and many estimates place the total north of $26,000!) on the wedding ceremony and reception whether they realize it or not. If they have the money to spend on such an event without putting themselves in financial jeopardy, more power to them. With that kind of wedding budget they could do so very much. They could build a wedding event that is much more than most brides ever achieve. However, if the money is not there...

Or if they have the money for that kind of wedding budget but could make better use of it some other way... To buy that first house... to start a college fund for the children... to pay off their own college loans... to have a more memorable honeymoon... to start a business... whatever the reason!

Can you have a memorable, striking wedding for less money?

Of course.

All that is needed is a little research of the wedding industry, some prioritizing on the wedding budget, and a commitment to planning rather than simply gathering for a dream wedding to come together that is truly as unique as the people involved.

This works because most brides make the mistake of panicking themselves into simply gathering the decorative touches they have seen in other weddings rather than planning. As a result they end up purchasing elements that do not really fit the wedding they are trying to put together.

A second reason this approach to wedding planning works is simply that by not understanding how the wedding industry works they end up blowing their wedding budget as a result. This takes a little time when time is precious, but it is worth it to understand what is reasonable to expect of each wedding professional and what is not. If you work with the wedding professional you will normally end up getting more for your money than if you put yourself in an adversarial role with them.

So take the time to plan out the wedding of your dreams. Think through the different options to make it happen. Some methods will be more expensive than others. Choose carefully. Not all options are equal. Often the less expensive method can work as well.

In the meantime, here are ten simple, yet practical suggestions that can help save a lot of money when planning a wedding:

1) Borrow or rent that wedding dress that will only be worn once
2) Have attendants bring their digital cameras to the hair salon rather than paying a photographer to follow you around all day
3) Reduce the number of guests
4) Limit the number of attendants
5) Hold the wedding and reception on a family member's property to save the cost of venue rental
6) Use locally grown flowers that are in season
7) Resist the pressure to commission both an ice sculpture and a wedding cake - both are designed to be a design focal point for the reception and two focal points do not work in any decor. Choose.
8) Use grazing stations filled with favorite delicacies instead of a sit-down dinner
9) Have an alcohol-free receptions. If you have to have bar, have a cash bar, or close the bar during dinner
10) Consider an off-season wedding (November through April) to reduce venue costs

There is nothing wrong with wanting to mount a wedding that all will look back on with fondness. Plan. Dream. Shoot for the grandest wedding celebration you can manage. But always remember that there is everything right with being wise in the use of your wedding budget.

Get Sexy Toned Legs for Your Wedding Day, Start Now

Sexy Toned Legs for Your Wedding Day, Start Toning Now!

By Jeanette Shinn

bride fitness, get in shape before your wedding, lose weight before your wedding, cosmetic surgery for wedding, toned legs, bridal lingerie, bride garter

When the long wedding gown comes off we want sexy toned legs to give us confidence. Whether we are talking about putting on a shorter gown for the reception and dance or for our first appearance in lingerie that night, we want our legs to be stunning. The good news is that there is something that can be done to improve, if not perfect, the appearance of your legs.

First, vary the routine. When you are trying to achieve any type of fitness goal our primary difficulty is usually motivation. That is to say that it is easy to get started on an idea that excites us but keeping it going can be a struggle. That's where variety comes in. If you can help it, don't do the same thing every day (and don't fight it when circumstances limit your options for a while either - just push through and change what you are doing when you can) or even necessarily maintain a set rotation throughout the week.

Second, eat lean proteins. That means fish, egg whites, and poultry breasts. Our body needs protein to build and repair muscle so we must be sure to take in plenty protein so that our body has what it needs to sculpt our legs in time for the wedding.

Third, cut overall calorie intake. Let's face it, getting sexy toned legs in time for our wedding day is as much about uncovering them as it is about shaping them. They can have great tone, but if they are covered by extra weight we will have gained very little.

Finally, choose among leg specific exercises:

Biking - Ever see a serious cyclist whose legs are not toned and shapely?

Note: Stationary bikes are fine, but real bikes out in the real world are better. The starting and stopping, the hills and valleys, etc all do more to give your legs a work out than a stationary bike. Plus, the variety of scenery helps to combat boredom. Just remember to wear a helmet.

Walk Up Inclines - Walking is obviously what our legs were meant to do so it make sense that using them the way they were intended would help get them in top condition, the incline simply accelerates the process.

Step Ups - There are a ton of DVD's that help us to step up and down off a little platform to the beat of music. This is a great activity for when outside is just not an option.

Run Stairs - For those who have adequate conditioning running stairs is a great way to achieve those toned legs we all desire.

Jump Rope - the jumping is great for our legs.

Play Basketball - The game of basketball involves running and jumping which are among the primary functions of the leg muscles. This can't help but build the leg muscles.

Play Tennis - Tennis does not include as much jumping as basketball, making it better for people with knee or hip problems, but the lack of jumping does cut it's effectiveness somewhat.

Do Squats - Yes, squats. Don't worry unless we have an inordinate amount of testosterone in our system we gals simply will not develop those massive muscles that men do. We are simply not built that way. But the squat works the largest muscle in our legs in a way that nothing else does. Just be certain to get proper instruction and supervision.

Include a Cardio Routine - This will help with weight loss and offer protection against any tendency to bulk up and will often help to incorporate some of the other exercises included in this list.

Drink Plenty of Water - Water is an essential nutrient and most of us do not get enough which causes us to be in less than the best condition we can be in. Drinking extra water is a simple way to help our bodies achieve those fitness goals.

Ultimately, don't give up. We all want to look great for our wedding day - or night. Just remember, getting sexy toned legs in time for our wedding takes work, but is so worth the effort. We can't let an apparent lack of immediate results discourage us. Persistence does pay off. Besides, with all these options we should never get bored as we pursue those sexy toned legs.

Eleven Strategies to Neutralize Wedding Planning Stress

Eleven Strategies to Neutralize Wedding Planning Stress

by: Jeanette Shinn

Reception Table Pictures, Images and Photos

We might as well get it out in the open. Planning a wedding is not a big job. It is a huge job somewhat akin to staging a Broadway musical, minus the cast of experienced participants. To make matters worse, the more guests that are invited, the more formal the event, the more complex the plans, the bigger the job is. That means stress. Lots of it. There is no way to get around it, but there are ways to neutralize wedding planning stress.

Moreover, since the female mind tends to place more value on the festivities of the day than the male mind does, chances are the groom is not going to take the lead planning the day. This means that the stress of wedding planning is generally felt more acutely by the bride.

Indeed, many brides feel like their groom does not care, thus increasing their stress. Whether or not their perception is true, the reality of the perception is enough to leave most brides pulling their hair out.

The secret to maintaining sanity during the wedding planning process is to maintain a bag of tricks that will allow the bride to minimize the stress, whether by strategically recruiting others to do some of the work or by scheduling events designed specifically to help her unwind before she unravels.

Take a Trip to the Spa: Often brides will plan a trip to the spa with their bridesmaids in the week just before the wedding. That can be good, but it might not be enough. There is nothing that will release stress faster than being pampered while you lay on a warm table immersed in a soothing fragrance and surrounded by relaxing music. Can't afford trips to the spa? Not a problem. A bride with a limited budget can recruit a good friend to help her create her own spa experience with aromatic touches, soft music, and a homemade facial mask or body peel.

Hire a Wedding Planner: A wedding planner who has been around the block a time or two offers something very few brides have... experience. They know people in the business, they know how to deal with wedding professionals, they have handled the problems that inevitably come up with planning a wedding, they have handled drunk relatives, etc. Most of all they know what to expect and what is a problem and what is not so the bride does not have to waste stress over situations that are not really a problem.

Have the Groom Break out the Digital Camera, Camcorder, and Laptop: Guys love their toys... and most guys love anything high tech. So recruit them to set up a wedding website - through which you can have them post wedding registry information, track RSVP's share engagement photo's and videos - even send out invitations, or at least have them use the computer to print the invitations and create address labels. You get the idea. Getting rid of such a huge amount of work in a way that he will embrace gladly will reduce any bride's stress level.

Go Out to Dinner: Take the time to sit and enjoy a good, high quality meal. Eat something healthy. This is as much about good nutrition as it is about a change of pace. Our bodies needs the change of pace that sitting down to a good meal will provide and it also needs nutrition rich foods to help deal with the stress planning a wedding can bring. Going out and having someone wait on us for a change is part of the therapy. Who the bride chooses for company is her decision, as long as it takes her away from wedding planning activities during the meal.

Take a Bath: There is nothing like soaking in a hot tub treated with scented bath salts, while reading a good book by the light of the candles ringing the tub. Add a glass of a favorite sipping drink and watch the stress melt.

Pray / Meditate: One of the main initial benefits of prayer and meditation is that it helps to put everything into perspective. Set against the vast nature of God and creation our problems look rather tiny. When we see the things that are causing our stress in this light it should be easy to let the stress go.

Take in a Chic Flick: Sometimes girls have to be girls. A wise bride will choose some time to send the guys off to be a guy and then grab a girlfriend with whom she can let down her hair and be a girl. Laugh, cry, enjoy.

Go to the Gym: Scientist tell us that working out is a great way to vent stress from our systems. In part, at least, this is because exercise triggers the body to release endorphins - a chemical our bodies put out that is far more potent than morphine. Furthermore, working out has the added benefit of toning our bodies - so we are further along in the process of avoiding stress about fitting into that dress!

Get Active: Anything active that has nothing to do with wedding planning. Learn to wind surf. Go for a hike, ride horses, go for a walk on the beach. This will provide some of the same benefits as going to the gym, but more importantly it will provide the body with a change of pace. The change of pace will not only go a long way to purging the wedding planning stress but it is likely to provide an answer to a question the bride did not even know she was pondering.

Put Together a Wedding Survival Kit for Both the Bride and the Groom: We've all heard the nightmare stories about the bride who flipped out because no one thought to bring extra nail polish remover, or a bobby pin, or a band aid, or stain remover. There are so many little things that could go wrong that could be prevented by compiling or buying a kit with all those incidentals that we all need on occasion and might otherwise require a special trip to the local corner market just when the photographer needs to start the photographs.

Get Away as a Couple: Take time away from the wedding planning to work on the relationship. It is, after all, what the wedding celebration is all about. Unfortunately, wedding planning has a way of driving wedges between couples due to the busy nature of the time period. Reinforcing the love relationship is an efficient way of minimizing the stress since a team is always stronger than the two individuals.

Taking the time to purge the stress is worth the investment though often it seems too much effort. The rewards in sanity, physical health, and most importantly strengthened relationships can only serve to make the celebration better. If it means simplifying some wedding plans due to the time a bride took to neutralize her wedding planning stress, the exchange will be well worth it.

How to Prepare Your Wedding Budget, Plus Average Cost For A Reception By Year

How to Prepare Your Wedding Budget

(plus the average estimated cost for a wedding reception by year for Fresno area weddings below article)

by: Veronica Champigny

The single most important action that must be taken when you are ready to begin planning your wedding is to prepare your wedding budget. Your wedding budget is important because it is impossible to know what you can afford for each part of the wedding if you don't limit yourself to the overall spending costs. For most people, preparing a wedding budget is one of the hardest tasks to be done before the wedding because almost everyone wants to have the nicest and most memorable wedding that they can afford.

Sometimes, parents will not pay for the wedding but will pay for the honeymoon instead. This makes preparing your own wedding budget very important; especially if you are paying for both the wedding and the honeymoon yourself. These days, 4 out of 5 couples pay for their own wedding so it helps to know how your budget should be broken down. When starting to prepare your wedding budget, you will first begin with the overall amount that you can afford to spend. The average wedding today costs around $20,000.

Now you will need to take that starting amount and apply it to an actual separate dollar amount. If you are not good at percentages, you can always utilize the internet and check with the various websites that offer you free or cheap wedding budget calculators that will do it for you. With these calculators, all you have to do is give it the total budget amount and then it will calculate for you how much money in dollars you will have to spend on each aspect of your wedding.

Once you have figured out the dollar amount that you can spend on each aspect of your wedding, you can then begin to create a chart that will itemize the list for you. The following is a list of areas that should be included in your chart: Wedding Reception Venue, Wedding Ceremony Venue, Professional Photographer/Videographer, Catering, Wedding Rings, Wedding Dress, Tuxedo, Music, Flowers, Honeymoon, Miscellaneous, and Decorations.

What this list is meant to show you are the areas you need to give consideration the most to in your planning. You have to make a list of all of the things that you will need to get in order to complete the above list. This is necessary in order to know if what you dream of can even be afforded within your set budget. If it can't, you will have to do any or all of the following: Lower the guest list, Forego some of the services, Lessen the wedding party, or Forget the extras like limos.

Remember starting with the preparation of an objective and realistic wedding budget is the first important action you must take in order to beging the planning stage of your wedding successfully.

Tips On Getting Your Wedding Gift Registry Setup Right

Tips On Getting Your Wedding Gift Registry Setup Right

by: Gale Harris

A crucial part of planning a wedding is also planning for and creating a wedding registry. This is best done as early as possible. The bridal registry is extremely important if you want to avoid duplicate gifts. Starting a registry early lets your guests have enough time to choose what items they would like to give you. You may not have a comprehensive wedding registry ready early on, but make it large enough for your guests to have enough options to browse and choose.

You also need to plan what kind of registry you want and what kinds of items and products need to be a part of it. The ideal wedding registry for a young couple is one that lists household items.
